Artist's Bio
Sakura Sugiyama, a Tokyo-based artist, uses a tufting machine to create lifelike, painting-like rugs. Focusing on realism, she renders her artworks in monotone yarn, blurring the lines between textile art and painting. Rather than creating practical floor coverings, Sakura explores tufting as a medium for artistic expression, treating each rug as a canvas and constantly pushing boundaries to bring her imaginative visions to life with every tuft.
