Discover the magic of indigo in this special one-day, hands-on dyeing workshop at Handmayk Studio.
You'll get your own skein of merino wool yarn and experience the fascinating process of transforming it with indigo.
Hosted by textile artist and yarn dyer Asad, you'll be introduced to the basics of indigo dyeing using an original Japanese blended indigo powder and a simplified approach designed to make this traditional dyeing technique fun and accessible.
Watch the magic happen as your yarn emerges from the indigo vat and gradually transforms from green into beautiful shades of blue as it meets the air and oxidises.
You'll take part in the dyeing process yourself, building colour through indigo dips and discovering how different depths of blue can be created.
Best of all, the yarn you dye is yours to take home.
Once dry, use your hand-dyed merino wool to knit, crochet or incorporate into your next creative project.
No previous dyeing experience is required.

Please note: Suitable for ages 12 and above. Indigo dyeing can be messy, so please wear clothes you don't mind getting stained. While we'll provide gloves and disposable aprons, indigo can permanently stain fabrics. Every hand-dyed skein will be slightly different, making the yarn you create uniquely yours.
